Notes from my "Intro to Information Theory" time


For two years, starting October 2010, I was a teaching assistant in the Introduction to Information Theory course at the Hebrew University, which was taught by Prof. Michael Werman, and the following year by Prof. Michael Ben-Or.
During that time, I a weekly two-hour tutorial, which was sometimes an extension of what was discussed in the lecture, and sometimes (as in the case of error correction codes) simply dealt with other topics.

After writing the previous post on check digits, I dug up the old notes, and found them to be quite helpful in refreshing my memory on the matter.

So, hoping it will prove helpful to others as well, and under an assumption that I'm not violating anyone's copyrights, here they are:
